I wasn’t allowed to go straight from high school to cosmetology school.
In 2001 I hatched a plan with two friends to move in with them across the street from my dream cosmo school.
They were both sex workers.
In high school.
Mom put a kibosh on that and I was shipped to Tallahassee to become a MBA graduate in 5 years.
I eventually went to cosmetology school while completing years 5 & 6 of college. So many of the beautiful women around me stripped AND did hair. Kinda like a classic Kanye song.
Afterwards I moved to Atlanta and GO-GO danced for a few months trying to figure it all out.
